INTENSIVE CARE UNIT

The ICU is committed to treating patients with dignity and providing them with compassionate and scientifically sound medical and nursing care. The ICU is a 4 bed ward and 2 bed step down unit. It has the ability to monitor each patient separately. There is also 5 telemetry units available which monitor the heart's status no matter where the patient is located in the building.

All ICU staff maintain ACLS certification and some have Critical Care Nurse designation. The ICU has new and innovative medical equipment. There are various non-invasive modern pieces of equipment to assist in giving optimum patient care such as ZOLL non-invasive pacemaking, End Tidal CO2 monitor and blood pressure monitoring.

Health teaching is an ongoing process in the ICU. A coronary teaching program is also available on discharge.
